Wedding at Providence City Hall

Welcome new and returning readers of my blog!  Today’s post is about a wedding photographed on April 28th, 2019 in Providence, RI.  The bride found me via my profile on The Knot/Wedding Wire and reached out to me via my website to get more information. We’d never met in person, but I found her easy to talk to and she was not put off by my effervescent love of all things Providence. Although a great majority of my clients meet me at local bridal shows I attend, many also find me online as well. As a matter of fact, I’m curious, how did you come by my website today?

The story of Becky and Ben

Rebecca Ravenelle and Benjamin Humphrey a.k.a. Becky and Ben were married on Sunday, April 28th, 2019 in front of family and friends in Providence City Hall. Everything about their day was just as classy and low-key as they both are. I started my coverage of their day at the newly remodeled Graduate Hotel in Providence. Formerly the Biltmore Hotel, The Graduate hotel’s new decor reminds me of Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel. From the cubby filled with antique keys in the foyer to the incredibly distinctively covered walls, this hotel fit the vibe of this couple quite impeccably.

I took pictures of Becky getting ready in her room, then organized Ben’s first look of her on the mezzanine floor. Becky wore a form-fitting simple white dress that was breathtakingly elegant. Her shoes though, were my favorite part of her wedding attire. Becky wore a pair of black Badgley Mischka evening shoes. The Vogue D’Orsays to be precise. I never wear high heels because you know, I would die. But I wanted to wear these ones. They were stunning and with just enough bling accessorize the simplicity of her elegant wedding gown.

With the first look and formal portraits on the iconic stairs of the Biltmore Hotel done in 30 minutes, the next item on the day’s to-do list was to walk across the street to city hall and get these two wed. Their wedding ceremony was short, sweet and to the point. “Do you?” “I do” - Kiss, bam done! In 15 minutes, Ben and Becky were husband and wife. No fuss, no muss. From City Hall, I walked with these two to Gracie’s Restaurant in Providence. We took pictures along the way and I’m going to say Becky was the MVP of the day because she walked in the beautiful shoes in her dress on wet cold streets of Providence at a pace that made me chase her down.

Their reception at Gracie’s was amazing.  I’ve been a patron of the restaurant before, but this was the first time that I photographed an event at Gracie’s. Kendal, the coordinator for Gracie’s was awesome. I overheard Becky mention that she was the main reason why the couple booked the restaurant. She was attentive, and responsive. She was always everywhere, making sure dinner service went out on time AND making sure that my assistant and I had something to eat. This past month, Arielle and Taylor booked me to photograph their 2020 wedding and their reception will be at Gracie’s. I can’t wait!

In small simple non-assuming ways, Ben and Becky made sure the day was exactly about what they wanted it to be - bearing witness to their committed to each other, enjoying themselves and sharing the love with their families and friends.

Congratulations Becky and Ben!
