Beating Wedding Planning Stress: 7 Ways to Unwind | Piper Brown Photography

Planning your wedding day can be incredibly fun—and it can also be super stressful. Your to-do list is probably about a mile long, and there are so many phone calls to make, emails to answer venues to tour, and menus to sample. You may have even started dreaming about wedding planning details, and all you can think about is whether your dress will be ready in time!

Stress can take away from your joy on your wedding day, so it's smart to find ways to relax and take breaks throughout your wedding planning process. Here are a few of our favorite ways to chill out and avoid the overwhelm. Additionally, consider setting realistic expectations, delegating tasks to trusted friends or family members, and practicing self-care regularly to manage stress effectively.

Take a class or workshop.

A great way to get your mind off wedding planning is to try something new. Have you always wanted to give pottery or painting a try? Maybe you really want to learn how to cook. Whatever your interests are, find a way to step outside of your comfort zone and try a class or workshop that can help you learn a new skill. This can provide a much-needed break from your to-do list and bring a sense of relief.

Spend some time venting.

Sometimes, we need to talk out our feelings with a close friend. Grab coffee with your bestie and share your stress or ask for advice. Many times, simply speaking your feelings out loud can be cathartic and help ease your mind.

Dive into that workout routine.

Exercise produces endorphins in your body, which makes you feel happier. That's why so many doctors recommend working out as the ultimate anxiety and stress reliever. Whether you're into running, yoga, or cycling, take some time to sweat out your frustrations and worries. This is not just about feeling better but also about valuing your well-being. Bonus: you'll look fantastic, too!

Pack up and hit the road.

If you can't stay away from your wedding spreadsheets and folders at home, consider taking off on a weekend road trip. Spend a few days with your fiancé in a cozy Airbnb or inn. This is a great way to reconnect with your partner and get both of your minds off of wedding planning. To ensure you have a stress-free trip, set aside specific times for wedding planning and stick to them, allowing the rest of your time to be dedicated to relaxation and quality time with your partner.

 Have a spa day

The ultimate relaxation strategy is to visit a spa. Get a massage, enjoy a steam room session, or try a facial. Just relax and let the professionals take care of you. No thoughts of vendors or venues allowed!

Take a hike

Sometimes, the beauty of nature can help you forget your stress and put everything into perspective. If you're local to Rhode Island and love the great outdoors, consider hiking in Lincoln Woods or walking through Roger Williams Park. These scenic spots can allow you to take a deep breath and get some much-needed sunlight. Plus, planning a picnic doesn't hurt!

Celebrate a night out with your friends!

Friends can provide the perfect distraction! Tell your pals that you're stressed and just need some time away from the wedding budget. They will likely be more than happy to provide a night of drinks, karaoke, and whatever other fun activities will keep you occupied. This is not just about having fun; it's about feeling understood and supported in your journey.
